A small rangoli with blue as the theme colour. I had started with a pinwheel design at the centre then extended with paisleys. To till date I am clueless how I had arrived to this final design.
A small rangoli with blue as the theme colour. I had started with a pinwheel design at the centre then extended with paisleys. To till date I am clueless how I had arrived to this final design. Now I feel I should have taken care of the symmetry too. Need to attempt again with some other colours. Four shades of Blue colour are into this kolam plus two tints. After drawing I felt the colouring had a look of a stained glass pattern. Hope it looks so.
Place the Dots
Sprinkle a few drops of water to clean the floor. Put down the dots in straight, even spacing using white rice powder or chalk.
Start from the Center
Find the middle dot. Draw the center loop, star knot, or flower petal first. Starting in the center keeps the pattern perfectly balanced on all sides.
Loop Around the Outer Dots
Pinch the rice flour between your thumb and forefinger. Guide the line smoothly around the dots in one continuous motion without lifting your fingers.
Add Red Border or Lamps
Outline the edges with traditional red Kaavi powder, or place glowing terracotta agal vilakku (oil lamps) at the corners to make your Kolam radiant!
