A freehand kolamn done on spur of the moment. Started with a simple pinwheel design and extended the design in my way. Though I was out of my way in drawing the last layer which has shown its presence in the final output. One of my favourite kolams, Should I say??? Well, the centre part creates the magic which is supposed to do its part on the whole. Drawing kolams with white rangoli powder always weave a magical mantra, I like to keep it subtle in white without adding colours and especially the round freehand aka mandala style kolams.
Place the Dots
Sprinkle a few drops of water to clean the floor. Put down Freehand dots in straight, even spacing using white rice powder or chalk.
Start from the Center
Find the middle dot. Draw the center loop, star knot, or flower petal first. Starting in the center keeps the pattern perfectly balanced on all sides.
Loop Around the Outer Dots
Pinch the rice flour between your thumb and forefinger. Guide the line smoothly around the dots in one continuous motion without lifting your fingers.
Add Red Border or Lamps
Outline the edges with traditional red Kaavi powder, or place glowing terracotta agal vilakku (oil lamps) at the corners to make your Kolam radiant!
