This is my own creation. This kolam is an extension of 5 dots kolam. I wanted to draw a kolams with larger dot count. My note book is back at my home and I had no choice except creating designs with my imagination. I had to restrict the dot coint as the entrance at my parents home allows me to draw upto 23 dots. So with 23 dots as the base compiled some sikku kolams in my style.
I couldn6 draw outdoor kilams because of the heavy downpour during the first weeks of December, that made be sluggish and took a long break to draw kolams.
Place the Dots
Sprinkle a few drops of water to clean the floor. Put down 5-Dot dots in straight, even spacing using white rice powder or chalk.
Start from the Center
Find the middle dot. Draw the center loop, star knot, or flower petal first. Starting in the center keeps the pattern perfectly balanced on all sides.
Loop Around the Outer Dots
Pinch the rice flour between your thumb and forefinger. Guide the line smoothly around the dots in one continuous motion without lifting your fingers.
Add Red Border or Lamps
Outline the edges with traditional red Kaavi powder, or place glowing terracotta agal vilakku (oil lamps) at the corners to make your Kolam radiant!
