A simple 7 dots sikku kolam with pink as the base colour of this kolam. I have a capsule shapes in the border to match the main kolam. This was done few months ago and I wasn't much satisfied.
A simple 7 dots sikku kolam with pink as the base colour of this kolam. I have a capsule shapes in the border to match the main kolam. This was done few months ago and I wasn't much satisfied with the outcome, but my friend insisted me to post this kolam, as it looked good to her eyes. Indeed my good friend.
I have used light and dark shades of pink to colour this kolam and too much of pink, I suppose.
The dot pattern is as below. A simple and easy kolam to draw.
Place the Dots
Sprinkle a few drops of water to clean the floor. Put down 7-Dot dots in straight, even spacing using white rice powder or chalk.
Start from the Center
Find the middle dot. Draw the center loop, star knot, or flower petal first. Starting in the center keeps the pattern perfectly balanced on all sides.
Loop Around the Outer Dots
Pinch the rice flour between your thumb and forefinger. Guide the line smoothly around the dots in one continuous motion without lifting your fingers.
Add Red Border or Lamps
Outline the edges with traditional red Kaavi powder, or place glowing terracotta agal vilakku (oil lamps) at the corners to make your Kolam radiant!
