My Sikku kolam collection has crossed century, but I didn't want Margazhi kolams to add up the number. So maintaining a different log book for sikkus.
Took a small break and made a visit to India. Though the margazhi season was over, still I enjoyed the chill climate and Kolams... My mom had bought colour powders and in addition my dear friend sent me colours from the other part of India. I managed to pack few kgs of colour powders and are ready to be displayed in kolams.
This is 23 dot count kolam with a different count for each coloumn, The centre column starts with 23, 2nd set - 21 x 2 3rd - 17 x 2 4th - 13 x 2 5th - 9 x 2 6th - 5 x 2 Concluding with a single dot. The same dot count has to be repeated on the other side.
Place the Dots
Sprinkle a few drops of water to clean the floor. Put down 21x2 dots in straight, even spacing using white rice powder or chalk.
Start from the Center
Find the middle dot. Draw the center loop, star knot, or flower petal first. Starting in the center keeps the pattern perfectly balanced on all sides.
Loop Around the Outer Dots
Pinch the rice flour between your thumb and forefinger. Guide the line smoothly around the dots in one continuous motion without lifting your fingers.
Add Red Border or Lamps
Outline the edges with traditional red Kaavi powder, or place glowing terracotta agal vilakku (oil lamps) at the corners to make your Kolam radiant!
