The kolams uploaded in this page were done by one of my cousins who is good in making freehand rangolis. She sticks on to small freestyle as she is bit lazy in placing the dots and I guess 4 dots.

She sticks on to small freestyle as she is bit lazy in placing the dots and I guess 4 dots kolam is the maximum dot count she has tried ever. I have insisted her to draw a dot ones, she replies me with a smile. I like the way she adds the extra details which elevates the beauty of the kolam.
Place the Dots
Sprinkle a few drops of water to clean the floor. Put down 4-Dot dots in straight, even spacing using white rice powder or chalk.
Start from the Center
Find the middle dot. Draw the center loop, star knot, or flower petal first. Starting in the center keeps the pattern perfectly balanced on all sides.
Loop Around the Outer Dots
Pinch the rice flour between your thumb and forefinger. Guide the line smoothly around the dots in one continuous motion without lifting your fingers.
Add Red Border or Lamps
Outline the edges with traditional red Kaavi powder, or place glowing terracotta agal vilakku (oil lamps) at the corners to make your Kolam radiant!
