A freehand pattern with hearts within. I just wanted to create something with hearts for this valentine season. A simple theme for this season, a heart enclosed with lots of hearts.
A freehand pattern with hearts within. I just wanted to create something with hearts for this valentine season.
A simple theme for this season, a heart enclosed with lots of hearts. I made a template for the two small hearts to have a symmetry. A cardboard or paper cut into heart shape to outline the shape. I made with a paper and marked the hearts within and coloured with colours.
I loved this display because of bright and vibrant colours used for colouring. This categories into freehand pattern, Wish I come up with more heart concept kolams in future.
I had few more for this season, but didn't have time to execute. I have created some dotted heart kolams.
Place the Dots
Sprinkle a few drops of water to clean the floor. Put down Freehand dots in straight, even spacing using white rice powder or chalk.
Start from the Center
Find the middle dot. Draw the center loop, star knot, or flower petal first. Starting in the center keeps the pattern perfectly balanced on all sides.
Loop Around the Outer Dots
Pinch the rice flour between your thumb and forefinger. Guide the line smoothly around the dots in one continuous motion without lifting your fingers.
Add Red Border or Lamps
Outline the edges with traditional red Kaavi powder, or place glowing terracotta agal vilakku (oil lamps) at the corners to make your Kolam radiant!
