A 6x6 dotted grid with 2x2 and 1 on sides, the dots get connected with lines and curves miniaturised for a cradle look. The kolam gets its look from a four-legged cradle from a top view. Drawing Krishna's feet at the centre of the kolam is a belief that the Bala Krishna starts his journey into the home stepping on the kolam to look for his delicious snacks in the pooja room. Place the Dots
Sprinkle a few drops of water to clean the floor. Put down 6x6 dots in straight, even spacing using white rice powder or chalk.
Start from the Center
Find the middle dot. Draw the center loop, star knot, or flower petal first. Starting in the center keeps the pattern perfectly balanced on all sides.

Pinch the rice flour between your thumb and forefinger. Guide the line smoothly around the dots in one continuous motion without lifting your fingers.
